Il nuovo aggiornamento di PS Portal arricchisce il gioco remoto su PS5 con controlli per laudio 3D, ricerca immediata e collegamenti QR. Migliora anche stabilit e interfaccia, mentre cresce lo streaming cloud.
Sony Interactive Entertainment released system update 7.3.0 for PlayStation Portal starting October 8, 2026, marking the second firmware upgrade in just one month. The update arrives without a formal press event, but the release notes detail concrete changes that affect anyone who uses Portal to stream PS5 games remotely.
Direct 3D Audio Control Arrives
One of the most immediate improvements is the ability to toggle 3D audio on or off while a game is running. Users access the switch through Settings > System > Audio 3D, allowing them to adjust sound depth without pausing gameplay. For remote play sessions, this means players can fine?tune immersion based on their current environment, such as reducing bass on a quiet train or enabling full surround sound at home. The feature works independently of the PS5s audio settings, giving Portal owners direct control over their listening experience.
Instant Search and QR Link Speed Up Navigation
The update also overhauls the on?device search function. Real-time search results appear instantly as users type, cutting down the time needed to locate:
- games,
- apps,
- or settings.
A secondary addition is QR code scanning that links directly to PlayStation Store. By scanning a code displayed on the Portal screen, users can continue browsing the store on a smartphone or web browser, then return to Portal without losing their place. This dual?device workflow reduces friction for players who prefer mobile browsing but want to launch content quickly on the handheld screen.
System Stability and Interface Refinements
Beyond user?facing features, version 7.3.0 includes system stability improvements that reduce crashes and background processes that consume resources. The interface received subtle tweaks to message handling and menu navigation, making common actions like inviting friends or accessing the quick menu slightly more responsive. While these changes may seem incremental, they collectively contribute to smoother remote play sessions by minimizing interruptions and keeping the device focused on streaming performance.
Cloud Streaming Grows, Remote Play Still Essential
Concurrent with the firmware update, Sony expanded the cloud streaming catalog with Hellraiser Revival available day one of its PS5 launch. The title streams directly from Sonys servers to Portal, bypassing the need to remote play from a home console. Access requires PlayStation Plus Premium membership, which also enables a growing library of launch?day streaming titles. Although cloud streaming reduces reliance on remote play for new releases, the majority of PS5 games still depend on a local console connection, keeping Portals remote play function central to the experience.
